YUCCA VALLEY

The project is an addition of a shade structure to a 1950’s house in Yucca Valley. The triangular shaped overhang radically altered the identity of the house through a simple geometric move. The house was stick built in the 50’s, but something the rectangular shape, size and siding made it seem as if it could have been modular. The house needed outdoor shade and cover for the the large glazing that faces the view. The overhang was shape to respond to the sun angles and formally it adds drama and character to an otherwise charming but modest residence with fantastic siting and views.
